SCIBCA Mentorship
PURPOSE:
The SCIBCA coach mentoring program is designed to create an access point for new coaches to share ideas, build relationships and learn from experienced veteran coaches. The goal is to help support the transition into varsity high school basketball, providing the tools necessary to be successful both on and off the court.
Become a Mentor
Requirements
- The mentor will act as a resource for the mentee.
- The mentor initiates phone calls, meeting times and provides a platform to connect with mentee.
- Mentor must have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a varsity head coach
- Mentor must be a member of SCIBCA
- Mentor must be willing to make a one-year commitment
Become a Mentee
Requirements
- The mentee will show a willingness to participate in all meetings and calls that are part of the mentorship program.
- Mentee must be in first or second year as a head Varsity coach
- Mentee must be a member of SCIBCA
- Mentee must be willing to make a one-year commitment.

- Budgeting
- Scheduling
- Dealing with Parents
- Team Building/Player relationships
- Staff – hiring, training, retention.
- Summer programs
- Coaching and Family obligations
- Practice Planning/Game Planning
MEETING DATES:
Sept. recruit Mentors/Mentee’s
Oct: Pair Mentor to Mentee (October 13 Fall clinic)
Nov (1st week): First Call
Regular calls: Dec, Jan, Feb, March
April-closure
